What is actually wrong is usually one of six things
People call an SEO agency when traffic or leads drop. In most cases the cause is one of these: the site is slow; the pages that should rank do not exist; Google indexed a staging site years ago and still serves it; the site was built in a page builder that renders headlines as images; or a competitor has 400 reviews and you have nine.
Each has a different fix, timeline and cost, so the first two weeks are spent identifying which one applies to you. If SEO is not the constraint, we say so rather than selling a monthly plan.
Some of those are not SEO problems. If the site itself is the constraint, that is a web development job; if you need work booked this month rather than next quarter, Google Ads is the faster route. We cover the whole marketing division, so we can tell you which one you need.
The audit is done by hand, on your site
We crawl the site ourselves, compare what Google sees against what a browser renders, and read twelve months of your search data before recommending anything. Tools gather the facts; an engineer writes the conclusions.
Location matters for map results and nothing else. Being based in the Nashville metro is an advantage here but not in Birmingham or Richmond, and the locations pages say so.
The document names the file and the line wherever it can, and sorts your pages by current position. A page at 15 can often be moved onto page one with a better title. A page at 45 is there for reasons a rewrite will not fix. Spending the budget on the second group is the most common way SEO money is wasted.
How long SEO takes depends mostly on the age of your site
This is the question every first call opens with, and the honest answer is that your starting position sets the timeline more than the strategy does. Two sites given identical work will move at very different speeds if one has ten years of history and the other went live in March. An SEO agency that quotes you the same timeline without asking how old your site is has not looked at it.
An established site with clean history is the faster job. Search engines already crawl it, already trust it, and already have a view of what it is about. Technical fixes can show up in six to eight weeks, and terms worth money usually move in three to six months. Most of the work is removing what holds the site back.
A new domain is a slower and genuinely different job. It has no history to be judged on, so the first few months buy evidence rather than rankings. Expect four to six months before anything moves and nine to twelve before it pays. That is not pessimism: Ahrefs found that about 73% of pages in the top ten are over three years old, and that only 1.7% of newly published pages reach the top ten inside a year.
The practical consequence is what we target first. A new site goes after long-tail terms it can actually win this year, while the competitive ones are built toward. An old site goes straight at the terms it is already close to. The one case that breaks the rule is an old domain with a bad history, where years of thin pages or a past penalty can make it slower than starting clean.
What this SEO agency does, in the order we do it
Five areas of work on one page, because none of them is bought on its own. Technical and ecommerce work sit here for the same reason.
Technical SEO
Crawlability, render, speed, structured data, log analysisPage speed measured on real phones rather than a lab score, render-blocking code moved out of the way, redirects mapped, and structured data generated from the same content that renders the page so the two can't disagree.
On a static site most of this is settled once, at build time, which is why we recommend one. We check what renders in the browser as well as what is in the code, because the two often differ.
A technical SEO company hired on its own delivers findings as a document. We commit the fix to your repository in the same week we find it.
Local SEO
Google Business Profile, map pack, citations, reviewsIf your customers could drive to you, the map pack is worth more than position four. That means a Google Business Profile with the right categories and hours, one address written identically everywhere, service pages that name the area, and a review process you can sustain.
Map rankings depend heavily on the searcher's distance from you. A profile registered in Franklin will not appear on the Birmingham map. Outside Middle Tennessee we can help with search and ads, and we say so before you pay anything.
Proximity is the one real advantage a local SEO agency has. The rest of the work travels fine.
Content that answers something
Page architecture, briefs, drafting, internal linksWe take the questions your buyers ask on sales calls, cross-check them against your search data, and build one page per question, linked from the service it belongs to.
Fewer, longer, better-linked pages. We will not publish two pages that target the same search, because they compete with each other.
Ecommerce SEO
Category pages, variants, faceted URLs, feedsA store generates its own competitors. Every color, size and sort order can mint a URL, and a few hundred of those chasing one search will bury the category page meant to win it.
Most of the work is therefore subtraction rather than writing. An SEO agency for ecommerce also has to manage speed more closely than a service site, because review, chat and upsell scripts all load on the checkout path.
Measurement
Events, CRM attribution, the monthly reportForm fills and calls are tracked, tagged with the page that produced them, and passed to your CRM with the source attached. That is a code change, which is why it is often skipped.
The monthly report opens with leads booked. Ranking positions are in the appendix.

SEO agency questions we get on the first call
How long before I see results from SEO?
It depends mostly on how old your site is, not on how hard anyone works. An established site with real history usually shows movement in six to eight weeks on technical fixes, and three to six months on terms worth money. A brand-new domain is a different job: four to six months before anything moves, and closer to nine to twelve before it is commercially useful. We report monthly either way, and the first report lists what we changed.
Why does the age of my site change the timeline so much?
Google leans on track record, and that has tightened. Ahrefs found that roughly 73% of pages in the top ten are more than three years old, and that only about 1.7% of newly published pages reach the top ten within a year. A new domain is not being punished — it simply has no history to judge, so the early months buy evidence rather than rankings. If your site is new, the honest plan is long-tail terms first and patience on the competitive ones.
My site is fifteen years old. Does that make this faster?
Usually, yes, and it is the single biggest advantage you have. An old domain with clean history has trust that a new competitor cannot buy. The work becomes fixing what is holding the site back rather than building credibility from nothing, and that is why established sites often move in weeks. The exception is an old domain with a bad history — spam, a penalty, or years of thin pages — which can take longer than starting fresh.
What do your SEO services include each month?
Month one is the audit, the analytics review, the page map, a costed fix list, and tracking put in. Months two and three are the fixes shipped, the Google profile work, and the first content pages live. After that it settles into two to four pages a month, ongoing technical work and a monthly report. All of it is written down before you pay.
Who does the work — is any of it offshored?
None of it. A small team in Franklin, Tennessee. The person who writes your audit does the work, so the recommendations are limited to things we can build.
How do I tell a good SEO agency from a bad one?
Ask two questions. First, what will you change in the first month, and who will do it? A good answer names specific pages and the person doing the work. A weak one describes a process. Second, what happens if nothing has moved by month six? Any agency worth hiring has already thought about that.
Can you work on a site you did not build?
Almost always. Most of our SEO work is on sites someone else built. The exception is a platform that will not let us change what needs changing; if the fix is to move off the page builder, the audit says so and prices both options.
What do SEO services cost?
Monthly, quoted against your site and your market. A one-off audit with no commitment is also available, credited against your first month if you continue. Starting figures for both are on the pricing page.
Is SEO still worth it now that AI answers everything?
Yes. The work that gets you cited in an AI answer is largely the work that gets you ranked: a clearly structured page with real questions as headings and specific facts under them. Vague copy is now unquotable as well as unrankable. We do not bill AI visibility separately, because it is the same work.
Do SEO companies for small business work any differently?
The work is the same; the order differs. A small business can't fund a year of content before anything happens, so we front-load whatever pays back soonest. Identifying those items is most of what the first month is for.
How do I get on a Google search at all?
Three things have to be true: the page is indexed, it answers something people actually search for, and the domain is trusted enough for the subject. If you do not appear at all, it is nearly always indexation, which is usually quick and cheap to fix. We will check it for free before you hire anyone.
Do you handle ecommerce, or only service businesses?
Both. An SEO agency for ecommerce works the opposite problem from a service site: too many pages rather than too few, most competing with each other. That is a code change more than a content one.
What happens if we stop?
You keep everything. The pages are on your domain, the fixes are in your code, the tracking is in your account and the Google profile is yours. Nothing switches off and there is no plugin to keep paying for.
